Good and inexpensive food (fish and meat), in an appealing atmosphere, with friendly / brisk service - what more could you want? The whole thing lovingly and resourcefully arranged, accompanied by good drinks (Super Silvaner!). Dessert very good. If the schnitzel were a bit more down-to-earth (one piece and out of the pan) and the potato salad (although homemade) were a tad more juicy (freshness!) It would be 5 *, as carp fillet and trout matjes were very good. Corona protection: good-very good

A very well-kept and recommendable inn. The food is tasty and nicely presented. The slightly higher prices are adjusted to the level. Also in Corona times very orderly and dignified.

The catering for the wedding celebration was gigantic. Lovingly prepared and served and everything is delicious.

THANK YOU !!! The Forellenhof did a really good, solid job with the catering for our wedding. It was nothing off the shelf, but you don't have that anyway ... it was our choice ... but to conjure up the whole thing in such a hot taste explosion on the plate ... that was your work. (Chicken with) spinach dumplings and gorgonzola sauce still occupies some of our guests today, maybe the dish will even make it onto the menu in the long term.

Very nice inn with, not surprisingly, many fish dishes, but also many dishes without fish. The staff is friendly and competent, the food is very tasty and of high quality. The large terrace invites you to stay longer, especially when the weather is nice. If you still need a walk after dinner, you can do so through the beautiful vineyards almost behind the inn.

Delicious food. Especially the venison with red cabbage was excellent. Prices a little more expensive but great price performance. Service was good, main courses did not come at the same time, then got 1 drink on the house. Only the atmosphere, the service forces were very stressed.

In a wonderfully quiet location with a great view of the game reserve and Steigerwald from the terrace is the Forellenhof. The service here was extremely friendly and accommodating. Also, the food is fresh and mostly prepared with local ingredients and is also extremely tasty. A small mistake in the beverage intake and the quite small choice of food (if you want something else except fish or tarte flambée) from our point of view unfortunately not for the full score. But we felt very comfortable here and will be back for sure.

On the opening weekend we were guests at the Forellenhof in the Handthal and were able to enjoy the fine cuisine and professionally well-rehearsed service - without long waiting times. We are always happy to come back - keep it up !!

great place to eat

Cute restaurant at the doors of the Steigerwald hiking area. One of the dining rooms has a view to the stream and to a field with fallow deer. The food is cooked with love, the Domina wine is excellent, and the waiters are very kind and cheerful.
